White Station Elementary Strings
www.DrPalmerStrings.weebly.com February 26, 2019 Hello, WSE Strings Parents! I would like to send everyone a huge THANK YOU for your participation in – and support of – the Spartan Strings Festival last night. The concert is an annual highlight of my school year, and the sound of 200 string musician playing the Finale together was wonderful. As I told the students this morning, this is the first time I can recall where 100% of the WSE Strings students participated in the concert. No sickness, no excuses, no “something elses.” I do appreciate your commitment to the program and your support of your children’s interests. We also talked this morning about what the students observed last night. They saw how much they can improve in one year of sixth grade orchestra. They also saw how fast, how high, and how musical the older groups could play. They asked questioned like “How do they do that without finger tapes?” and “Are those professional players?” We also started working on the next performance piece in the book, Ode to Joy (#86), and will continue to work on it on Friday. Our next public performances will be in May. On May 9, we will combine with several other SCS elementary Strings classes for a large elementary ensemble concert at Colonial Middle School. I understand that the WSE trip is that week, so some of our students will be out of town. That date, unfortunately, is firm. Our final performance of the year will be at the WSE fifth grade promotion program at the end of the school year. Again, thank you for your attendance and support at the Spartan Strings Festival! Sincerely, Dr. Palmer, Strings Specialist
